So it seems people like bees and butterflies. (In the last few days, images have been ‘favourited’ by nicolasjolly, OliveArtStation, Jellikat, laurentiusmark93, daianaramona, KatnissEverdeen7, fashioneyes, sonnio, HateMind, ENRAGEDBAKU. Thanks to all.)
I donʼt really know what the fascination is, or rather, I think there are several different fascinations that combine ... we learn to be wary of insects but find humble bees cute (maybe not so much close up?) because furry, and butterflies beautiful (perhaps more so close up?). Other people have taken shots of less ‘attractive’ insects and shown remarkable things, but I doubt Iʼll ever get a fly to sit still long enough. Tired butterflies and hungry bees are easy.
One possible fascination is the ecology of pollination, without which ... bad things.
One other fascination for me is just the exoskeleton. I canʼt quite imagine being without bones. But Iʼm trying. I have got as far as imagining being a sort of four-limbed land octopus. (I should try that as a self-portrait.) But I seem to have no reference points for having my muscles attached on the inside of things. Just possibly it doesnʼt feel very different, apart from not feeling any need for cushions?
